Andy Westgate

An experienced health and safety professional, Andy Westgate has led and managed H&S across multiple industries for a number of top-class businesses for over 20 years.

Originally from the UK, Andy and his family moved to New Zealand in 2004 and is very settled in Mosgiel, Otago.

Health and Safety industry experience in UK and NZ includes aviation, manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, high risk environments, construction and tertiary with overview of around 150 courses. I also spent 13 years in the Royal Air Force (RAF).

My learned experiences can be accessed to help your business manage and exceed your H&S needs and expectations.

Andy Westgate delivers H&S management in an easy manner for you to grasp first hand and for your greatest assets (workers) to engage with to help you ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of each day.

A professional member of NZISM (New Zealand Institute of Safety Management) and a registered safety professional on the HASANZ register.

Community Connections

  • Regularly involved in Dunedin’s Relay for Life.
  • Raised in excess of $5,000 for special fundraising events; Regularly involved in Dunedin’s Relay for Life, walked from Mosgiel to Dunedin and back (32km total) on National Walk to Work Day and stayed in a 10m x 10m room alone for 24 hours during their special safety day with Doug Kamo and his teaming running the “can do” event.
  • Finding different ways for the community to benefit from H&S events. Recently, Andy Westgate led a business to gift 2500 cans of food for Presbyterian Support during their special safety day.

Keynote Speakers

  • Had the pleasure of engaging with a number of keynote speakers including Dave Letele, Jason Gunn, Glen Sharkey and Hayden Paddon.

More About Andy Westgate

  • In his younger years, Andy Westgate had the pleasure of attending a sports parachute course and in total has successfully completed 13 parachute jumps.
  • Looks forward to the ski seasons and you may find him at Mt Hutt, The Remarkables or Coronet Peak in the winter. 
  • Enjoys travelling locally and overseas to be immersed into local cultures.
  • Fond of the theatre and is always impressed by the local talent performing on stage, the supporting teams behind the scenes and the talented musicians and vocal artists in the orchestra or ensemble.
